Can it be lifechanging?

Caroline Cavanagh of Adding Zest and Anxiety Alchemy
Is telling someone a trip was life changing a bit too ‘woo-woo’ perhaps? Or can things happen that do change your perception on life?

This time last month I was in Peru walking the Inca Trail as part of a fundraising event for Salisbury hospital’s Star’s Appeal. The trip was a year in the planning – well a year of fund raising really – and I think like anything you build up to over a long time, the expectation becomes huge – however, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect apart from long days of walking with a bunch of people I didn’t really know!

The trip was a challenge in all sorts of ways but the thing that still remains with me a month on is how people live in this beautiful, natural part of the world – the only running water being the river, no electricity, living off the land, the only transport being something with 4 legs! And every face wore a smile! Caroline at Machu Picchu

Prior to the trip I had had long nights getting that last email written or that last facebook post scheduled and was scrabbling around for the last bits and pieces to pack long after the bag should have been ready. I created all my own stress! And there in Peru were people who had probably never heard of Facebook but seemed very content with their lives.

The temptation to get back into 5th gear and tackle the ever growing ‘todo’ list knocks regularly, however, having that realisation that I create most of my own stress –I’ve decided not to do it!

The dreadful terrorist activity recently has also highlighted how lives can change in a heartbeat. None of us know what will happen an hour from now, a week from now, a year from now, but NOW is where we are at, so I plan to enjoy it and if things take a bit longer to get done, so be it! (and that is one factor as to why this newsletter is nearly a week late coming out 😊 )

Relationship with food

Laugh As we hit summer there has been in influx of people wanting to lose weight. The average number of sessions most people have is 4-6 and Jo hit that with 4 sessions to transform her relationship with food. In the 7 weeks between the first and last session she had lost over 1.5 stone without dieting. “ I am not denying myself the food I used to crave, I just don’t want it anymore, it amazing!”

If you would like to know more about how I can help you change your relationship with food, you can find more here.

Do something nice for someone this week

This is an ongoing theme of mine – and the psychology behind it is that by doing something nice for someone else, you also feel good – win: win!! Just the most simple of gestures, even just saying hello to someone, can make a world of difference.

And in the current world, wouldn’t it be nice to focus on the positives for once!
