Dear Chris ,

If only it were one day!

I don't know about you but this blinkin' black Friday thing seems to have gone on since at least Monday.  However, it has somewhat matched my week in terms of blackness!

It has been a bit of a black week (and no sales included!!), but definitely not all doom and gloom - there is definitely a brightness to chase away dark!  And if you want to know what that is click here

What Black Friday and a little trip to London this week has left me thinking about is the meaning we attach to things.  I have no idea what Black Friday is really all about (something to do with America and thanksgiving??) but I now just associate it with online deals.  On Wednesday I did a talk in Earls Court to around 60 people and we were discussing the meanings we attach to things. And often those meanings have got distorted and when we consciously look back at their roots, we question if its time to pull them up!

The blog this week is all about me rediscovering the meaning of "You reap what you sew".  It's one of those sayings that often trips off the tongue without really thinking about its meaning.  I think I got back to those roots this week!

Another weekend upon us and having sewed lots of seeds this week, I am wondering what is going to grow.  How about you?  Are you going to have chance to reap anything, or are those Amazon deliveries going to keep you busy :-)

Until next week

And another thing...

I had a great night up in Earls Court on Wednesday doing a talk to an audience of 60 as part of the Interesting Talks programme.  And confession time - I did not prepare well!

I could use the excuse of all the domestic stuff going on but the bottom line - I left things to the last minute and then as my husband would say, 'winged it'. Driving home again I did allow myself a wry smile as I had managed to 'wing it well'  - a 90 minute talk with no notes! But is that really a big deal?  I spoke for 90 minutes on something I love and talk about every day.  No real biggie at all!

Sometimes we can over think things.  That old 'mountain from a molehill' thing.  I talk one-to-one with people for 90 mins every day.  Why should it be any different to have 59 other people listening in?

And that was the theme of the talk - starting to understand why we do the things we do.

If there are things you are doing that you wish you weren't, or things you want to do that you feel you can't, come and have a chat.  I promise you I wont be winging it :-) (nor will 59 other people be earwigging!)
