What do I do and how do the sessions work?
Once you have made the decision that you want to change an area of your life, the first step is to contact
me.
Following a brief chat, I will send you a form to complete. The form will allow me to establish that
there are no reasons (ethically or medically) that we may not proceed and to give me some important information
that will expedite the therapy.
During the first session, we will discuss your goals and ensure that
the 3 critical conditions are in place to support
your experience of hypnotherapy; namely:
1.
You give consent
to be hypnotised – this means we have addressed any fears that you have of being
hypnotised.
2.
You have
placed trust in me hypnotising you.
3.
There is clear communication between us.
With all that in place, you
will then have your first
experience of being taken into hypnotic sleep.
The first session will be up
to 1.5 hours long. It will give you the information you need to decide
whether you want to pursue hypnotherapy
as the route to achieving your goal.
In future sessions
you will experience deeper levels of hypnotic
sleep quicker and I will work with you
therapeutically to
achieve the goals agreed. It is important to
recognise that a hypnotherapist does not
‘cure’ you. I will
show you the route, you must decide if you
want to go down it.
It will require time and effort on your part
between sessions. You may be given
recordings to listen to and may
have some exercises to practice.
The speed
of your progress will be strongly
influenced by your determination
to practice.
